On June 12, 2019, I wrote the title Side A & B of Love in my notes app. I didn't know what the title would become nor the ideas that would sprout from it. What I did know was that the title intrigued me and made me think about my own relationship.

Fast forward to June 23, 2024, and the title crossed my mind again. I jotted down the following thoughts:

A-Acquaintance

B-Bliss

C-Coupleship

D-Divorce.

I also recorded romance, relationship, and realness. These seemingly random words didn't spur any further thoughts, but I assure you, the seed was still growing.

On August 13, 2026, I wrote a narrative free-verse poem titled, "Have you ever paid for a ' Hello '? " This poem was the first flower from the 2019 seed. Since then, I have carefully curated a collection of original poems that follow the arc of a relationship. By the end of September 2026, I had written 20 new poems specifically for this project.

On October 3, 2026, at 2:30 am, I sat back in my office chair and stared at the completed manuscript.

Sometimes the seeds we plant take years to grow, but we have to trust the process. Every word written and rewritten was progress. As a writer, I've finally come into full bloom.
